Repair your teeth and fill in gaps to improve your smile and your confidence

Are crowns and bridges right for me?

We always recommend you restore missing or cracked teeth. Not only will it even up your smile and give you more confidence, but replacing missing teeth or strengthening cracked ones will also make your mouth healthier. Large gaps can cause your other teeth to move into positions they shouldn’t be in or can encourage bacteria to build up, leading to potential infections and problems with eating or speaking.

Crowns are a great option for anyone with damaged or cracked teeth, or for folks who want to fix the shape or colour of their teeth. Often, patients who’ve had a root canal treatment will have a crown fitted to protect the tooth.

Bridges are best for people with multiple missing teeth in a row who want to even up their smile. They can help restore functionality like chewing and can improve the structure of your face, too. Dental bridges aren’t suitable for everyone as it depends on the shape of your mouth, so we’d suggest coming in for a free consultation to talk through your options.

Both bridges and crowns are strong, long-lasting choices that blend in with your natural smile.

How do crowns and bridges work?

Crowns

Dental crowns are fitted on top of your natural teeth and are custom-made to fit the shape and colour of your teeth. Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth and gums to size the crown and will also prepare your tooth by filing it down to make sure the crown fits.

Depending on your needs, you may be fitted with a temporary crown ahead of your appointment. Once your permanent crown is in, it won’t decay, but the joint between the crown and your tooth can, so it’s important to maintain good oral hygiene to ensure your crown lasts as long as possible.

Bridges

Bridges are made from durable metal, bonded with the same porcelain material as crowns and are fitted to repair gaps in teeth. Usually, your dentist will put crowns on the natural teeth on either side of the gap to anchor the bridge in place.

Your tooth repair treatment journey

We’re here to support you every step of the way through your crown or bridge treatment.

1

Free consultation

Have a chat with one of our team to find out more about crowns and bridges and discuss if it’s right for you. During this consultation, we’ll also take some scans, pictures, and videos of your teeth.

    2

    Clinical exam and X-rays

We’ll go into a little more depth with a full dental exam and clinical assessment, including X-rays. Our innovative dental technology can scan your teeth quickly and easily - no need for messy impressions to be taken. This also involves a comprehensive look at our treatment options and the chance to digitally preview your smile with our Smile Design service.

      3

      Appointment one

During your first treatment appointment, your dentist will apply local anaesthetic to the area to keep you comfortable. They’ll then take an impression to make your temporary crown or bridge, before shaping the tooth/teeth in preparation for fitting.

At this point, your dentist will take another impression, a scan of your bite, and a record of your tooth shade — all of this is used to make your permanent crown and/or bridge at our specialist lab. You’ll then be fitted with any temporary crowns needed.

        4

        Appointment two

You’ll visit us again for your permanent crown to be fitted and/or your new bridge bonded to your teeth. Your dentist will make sure you’re both happy with the fit and will give you some tips on oral hygiene.

          5

          Aftercare and follow-up

After your treatment, your dentist will give you detailed instructions on how to care for your tooth as it heals. You might also be given some antibiotics to help manage and prevent further infection. We’ll check in with you regularly to make sure everything is progressing smoothly and provide any necessary aftercare.

          6

          Enjoy your new, stronger smile

Confidence looks great on you! Enjoy your new, improved teeth and remember, we’re always here if you need any additional dental treatment. For any future treatments, why not join our membership plan to help split the cost?

          What are crowns and bridges?

Porcelain crowns are made from a ceramic material and can be used to cover the whole surface of a tooth. They’re strong, long-lasting, and can match the rest of your smile (in both colour and shape) so no one will ever know your tooth was damaged.

Dental crowns can strengthen damaged teeth, protect a root canal treatment, or improve the shape and colour of your teeth. As well as looking great, crowns also allow you to chew and speak without discomfort.

If a patient has a gap of two or more teeth, a dental bridge can be used to restore their smile. A dental bridge is made from artificial teeth which are anchored to the natural teeth that remain on either side of the gap. As with crowns, they’re strong and custom-made to match the rest of your teeth.
